CAREGIVERS HELPLINE - Resouces For CareGivers
Caring for a loved one with physical or emotional challenges can be exhausting and overwhelming. You may feel alone, but help is nearby. Plan for different scenarios in advance by talking with your loved one's health
care provider and taking care of advance directive like living wills and powers of attorney. Tour assisted living and nursing facilities before you need one;
some have waiting lists. Most importantly, take care of yourself and accept offers of help so you can stay positive and enjoy the time you have together.
Many resources can be found in your community through churches, senior centers, YMCAs and other organizations, through your Elder Care Coordinator and health
care provider, through government and online. Here is a sample to get you started.
Government Resources
Each county has an Area Agency on Aging, which provides information about services to seniors including housing, transportation, legal and financial help,
health care, senior centers, adult day care programs, Medicare, caregiver support programs and more. You can find them in the County government pages of your phone book.
